International Primate Rescue is a registered charity in Pretoria, South Africa. Founded in 1996, our sanctuary currently houses over 90 exotic ex-laboratory, ex-pet and ex-zoo primates.

Being exotic to South Africa, non of our primates cannot be released back into the wild and therefore our focus is on providing them with the best possible quality of life in captivity. Our enclosures are large and natural with wire tunnels through the trees giving our monkeys a sense of freedom. Home comforts such as heating and warm fluffy blankets are also provided, and for those that seek it, plenty of human interaction. All primates received are considered permanent and will remain at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives

International Primate Rescue will accept any species of exotic primate from anywhere in the world and currently houses eight different species from the tiny Gray Mouse Lemur to the large Barbary Macaque. Over the years, we have flown primates in need from as far afield as Germany, Hungry, France, Israel and Mali.
